ekobrew – a new green alternative to k-cups

One of the chief complaints from K-Cup users (aside from the lack of Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts K-Cups) is the amount of waste generated by using the disposable K-Cups. We’re excited about this product that is hitting Amazon on 7/31/2011. It is called Ekobrew

Here are some of the amazing features (courtesy of www.ekobrew.com)

Deeper Brew Chamber means more water and a more complete coffee extraction.

Flat Bottom Design means easier, hands-free filling and less waste.

No Crevice Interior means quicker and easier cleaning after use.

Heat Resistant Grips mean a safer and faster removal after brewing.

Dual Entry Point design means no removal of the Keurig filter holster.

Low Tamp Dispersion Cone allows water to gently soak the coffee before full extraction.

Silicone Seal - Ekobrew uses a superior heat resistant o-ring seal made of silicone instead of rubber.

Ekobrew Advantages:

No Holster Removal - There’s no need to pull out the filter holster first. Just fill the Ekobrew chamber with coffee, close the lid, place in the Keurig holster and brew.

A Greener Alternative - Each time you use Ekobrew with your Keurig brewer, there is one less plastic-and-foil cup to pollute the earth.

Save Money - With every cup you could save 50% or more on single serve coffee costs.

Immeasurable Choices - The highest quality and best tasting coffees available today are from micro-roasters. Now you can use your favorite coffee with your Ekobrew.

Freshness - Whether you buy whole bean coffee from a local roaster, retailer or an online source, be sure to have it ground fresh. The freshest beans equals the freshest cup of coffee.

  1. Chris,

I’m a student at Boston U. who is studying the coffee industry (specifically Green Mountain) and how the industry may change with the changing digital business landscape. I think this blog is a good example of this and was interested in seeing if you’d be willing to chat about the industry. If you get the opportunity and are interested, please feel free to respond.

PS…I’m also a big coffee lover. I prefer grinding my own beans, but I go through about 4-5 k-cups a day at the office! Nothing beats GMCR Nantucket Blend.

    Best,
    Russ Todia

This is a great blog btw. Any other products out there that make the Keurig system more ecologically sound?
